The brains are written in a very manual recursive style. Add:

let*, named let, local define
for, while, foreach, break, continue, return
optional arguments, keyword arguments, default values
variadic functions
early exits without deeply nested cond

For example, scan-book should be a filter/fold, not a hand-written recursive walk. Acceptance: shipped brains' recursive walkers are rewritten with the new forms where they're clearer.
